TV Mobile got a thumbs-up? What?

TV Mobile is another one of those Mediacorp sites that seem to think that it is a legend in its own mind. Like how they said about a week ago that the AC Nielsen ratings gave it a “thumbs up” or whatever that means in their local parlance. Are these guys blowing their own trumpet, just like they did when they announced the Singapore Radio Awards but the awards were for Mediacorp stations only? Sure looks that way. And while we are on the subject of TV Mobile, must they show the mind-numbing, stupid, no-brainer local “sitcoms?” I mean, if this is their way of making sure that we get the most bang-for-buck out of the radio licensing fees that we pay every year (a rip-off by the way considering that we are not even getting our money’s worth) I don’t want it. Mediacorp, stop fooling yourselves and giving yourselves pats on the back. It just doesn’t cut it. This is Singapore, not North Korea. But sometimes, when it comes to local media, I am really starting to wonder.

Candy Empire in the news for all the wrong reasons

I read about what this shop in the all new VivoCity did to a disabled customer in a wheelchair. It seems that when this customer went to the shop, he was made unwelcome by one of the staff, and shown a notice on the wall, stating the wheelchairs were not allowed. After this was commented upon in the press, Candy Empire changed their stance and now:



Interesting isn't it? Only after it was brought out, the about-turn came. Well Candy Empire, I hope you learn a valuable lesson from this. Don't discriminate against anyone, especially the handicapped.
